Taryn's Favorite Gadgets and Gizmos

These are the tools and accessories I reach for again and again. I've used many of them while stitching, teaching classes, and creating The Needlepoint Library.

Premax Embroidery Scissors

These are my go-to embroidery scissors. The slightly curved blades make it easy to snip threads close to the canvas without accidentally catching surrounding stitches.

Thread Burner

My holy grail for stitching with sparkle threads. It quickly singes the ends of threads that fray easily—think Neon Rays, Silk Lamé, Radiance, and other specialty threads. Fair warning...it smells a bit while it's working. My family hates when I use it in the car, but a stitcher has to do what a stitcher has to do.

Cordless Flat Iron

My Type A side loves this little gadget. I use this cordless mini flat iron to smooth ribbon threads that have been wrapped on cards, giving them a crisp, polished look before stitching. It holds a charge well, fits easily in my project bag, and goes with me to every class.

Scojo Gel Readers

These puppies are light as a feather! I even wear them over my progressive glasses when I need a little extra magnification. And yes...I may own them in multiple colors and strengths.
